The city of Lincoln is eagerly waiting for the eco-friendly sports hub at the Yarborough Leisure Centre to officially open its doors for the athletes on October 22. The £1.1million projectincorporates several environmentally friendly solutions to offer a healthy and sustainable environment for the athletes. With nearly two years of planning and development, the structure is all set to be a green hub for local football clubs, as well as other teams, schools, and clubs in the city.
The new sports hub boasts green features like air-source heat pumps for under floor heating and solar panels on the roof. The clean energy produced by the solar energy is used to heat water. Rainwater is collected and then used for toilet flushing. The venue includes six changing rooms, an officials’ changing area, separate storage space of each team and a multifunctional 60sqm training and meeting room, with a kitchen at the back.
