I’m very sorry to learn that the well-known and highly respected US wine importer, Joe Dressner, has a brain tumour and will start treatment soon. His company, Louis Dressner Selections, has a good selection of wines throughout France. From the Loire Joe represents many interesting producers including the Clos Roche Blanche, Tue-Boeuf and Thierry Puzelat, Eric Nicolas, Mark Angeli, Clos Rougeard, Bernard Baudry and Luneau-Papin. Here’s a quote from the Louis Dressner Selections site:
‘We have no brands. We are not looking for them. We do have a group of often fanatical growers who are doing their best to make wines that are original because they are honestly crafted. These might seem old-fashioned, but in the present context it is almost revolutionary....
‘There are no gobs, no exaggerations, no over-this and over-that. We don't have fruit bombs. What we do have is a group of growers who work their vines and make their wines with honesty, passion and humor.’

Although I have never met Joe, I hope the treatment is a complete success and that Captain Tumour Man blog will soon no longer be necessary and that we can meet up sometime in the Loire.
I’m impressed that he is fighting this threat with humour – the Captain Tumour Man blog.
Joe – my best wishes.
