The Ness in the middle of Inverness At 629 miles the Loire is France's longest river and the 14th longest in Europe. (Admittedly very considerably shorter than the Volga@2294 miles long easily the longest European river.) This week I've been staying beside one the shortest – the fast flowing River Ness, which is just 23 miles long.
