China's Comic and Animation Museum

If you love comic books and cartoons (it's ok if you're nodding your head and you're over the age of 10), check out this sweet museum. Dutch studio MVRDV recently won a competition to design the Comic and Animation Museum in Hangzhou, China. With a population of 6.4 million inhabitants, Hangzhou is the capital of China’s animation industry, and MVDRV’s new museum pays tribute to its rising relevance and popularity.

The speech bubble-inspired design includes eight balloon-shaped sections that form almost 100,000 sq ft of museum space. Each balloon contains a different function, including two exhibition spaces that display cartoons, comics, and animations.

The permanent exhibition space spirals out of its chamber and connects with three auditoriums, as well as a comic book library. An interactive section allows visitors to test out blue screens, stop motion animation, and other animation techniques. No doubt, the most awesome section is the 3D zoetrope. It's where visitors can interact with holographic projections and games!

Don't book your ticket just yet. Construction on the $132 million dollar project is slated to start in 2012.
