Sunlight on the bay at Oban

Although there were fine views on the way from Inverness to Fort William, the section on southwards was even more beautiful.

The high summer@Inverness!

We are off to the Western Isles today. Heading initially to Oban and then taking the ferry tomorrow across to Barra and working our way through the islands to Lewis to get the ferry back to the mainland at Ullapool. Unfortunately the lovely weather of last week has given way to low grey cloud and rain. Furthermore the forecast isn't great, which is a shame as this is the first time I have been to the Hebrides.

Will be aiming to continue to post daily but not sure how easy it will be to get an internet connection while we are on our travels.

Photos from the road (A939) between Grantown and Tomintoul

Continuing our excursions in the Scottish Highlands we went to Tomintoul from Inverness today. The weather was mixed with some showers, the occasional shaft of sunlight and some spectacular clouds over the Cairngorms. All of the shots were taken on the road (A939) from Grantown-on-Spey to Tomintoul. This road is famously the first every year to be shut by snow, especially on the section from Tomintoul southwards to Cock Bridge.
