The concept
Among many inventions in the world of eco-friendly creations, this might be considered too revolutionary an idea to be true. Doubts aren’t always correct! Designer Ben Herron has presented to the world his idea of marrying the cycle to a car, the result is quite intriguing. DUNO, a vehicle that combines the advantages of both cycle and car is ‘a part electric car and a part unicycle’ in the designer’s own words. The appearance of DUNO gives an impression of a cycle and a car being blend together.
The vision
The concept targets the urban commuters. Keeping their needs in mind the vehicle has been planned extensively. It’s petite structure may fit well in the requirements of an urban vehicle. As per planning, this low emission vehicle would be energy efficient as well. Another feature that deserves to be mentioned is the adaptable car features that guarantee optimum comfort. Two detachable unicycles at the back being one of them. These two unicycles replace the back wheel.
Limitations
Undoubtedly, the concept of an electric two-seater is flattering. For urban dwellers who have to struggle wriggling through the jam packed streets, this might be a boon. The petite structure is a blessing in itself. What adds to the convenience is the detachabale unicycles. Moving a step ahead, the designer has also imagined a system that might help the vehicle in getting recharged at parking space. This system would be under car. The concept vehicle would have a 80 hp engine, with a range of 100 km. The vertical opening door-system enhances its petite form. Reversible interior and interior indicators are not to be missed.
According to the designer’s imagination, the detachable part, i.e. the unicycle’s recharging system would be powered by ‘pedaling’. Wow!

Cool detachable motor home concept
The idea is the baby of Christian Susana, who is from Germany. Susana imagined a motor that can be used for small fun-filled trips, a ride across the city and everything that an urban commuter may need. Her idea is to have a detachable front car. This detachable section has an impressive speed of 90 mph. Apparently, it might turn out to be more fuel efficient than the traditional four wheelers people have at home. Susana calls it ‘Colim’. The name might make sense when read in full form - ‘Colors of Life in Motion’. Quite impressive! It might not be in the form of a concrete product as of now, but at least this idea can serve as a base for other revolutionary products. By the way, Susana is trying hard to give shape to her concept. As of now, she is looking for a company that can make this vehicle.
Light Weight Concept’s rear wheels represent two detachable Segways to rid of city congestion
ehicles that might be altered to suit the need. Korean designer Bobin Keel’s version of transformable vehicle is an idea that could actually provide a solution to a lot of traffic problems. The rear wheels of the concept are a perfect example of vehicles that can be transformed as per the need of time. These rear wheels can be detached as per the need of traffic and the driver. This may help in moving out of high traffic zones easily.
Two parallel side panels give power to the body. These are attached to the cross and to ensure high rigidity they may be blended with advanced plastics. Along with this a few style enhancing features like interlocking surfaces and multilayer system make it spectacular; not to mention the light weight.
CarGo Concept
Adam Schacter’s CarGo single-seater concept is a perfect example of design inspired by “Transformers”. The vehicle is mainly conceptualized for urban deliveries. The driver can transform the vehicle as per the traffic conditions in real time owing to the variable track and wheelbase. The battery-powered concept adjusts to compact, narrow and pick-up truck modes quickly catering to different requirements. You can even remove the “Pod” storage compartment for everyday commuting.
