The Maldives is best known for its stunning underwater coral gardens and very soon would also be counted for its upcoming project of floating golf course with 18 holes connected via underwater tunnels.
This project is being designed by world’s leading golf management company, Waterstudio.NL, Troon Golf and is developed by the world-renowned experts in floating technology, Dutch Docklands. The Golf Course is planned to be a $500 million project having 18 holes with revolutionary underwater tunnel connection.
The project is a series of artificial floating mini islands consisting of two to three holes each. These small islands then would be connected via underwater tunnels to form a 18 hole Golf Course. It will have zero footprints on its environment. The reason behind this is that it would include unique prospects for sustainable developments in fields like water-cooling, sweet water collection floating on salt water (desalination) and would be powered by solar energy, which is available in abundance.
It’s located at a distance of just five minutes drive from Malé International Airport. It is also planned to be followed by luxury accommodation connected with the underwater tunnels overlooking the Golf Course and coral reefs. The completion of the project is observed by 2015.
The working of world’s renowned companies behind this masterpiece venture predicts to boost tourism in Maldives attracting fleets of golf lovers from around the world. The state of the art Golf Course is all set to get bags of tourism wealth and investments for the country.
