Hopefully this fountain in the centre of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil will be running with 2009 red

The Cabernet Franc in these two appellations are certainly looking good at the moment. The official starting gun for the start of the vintage will be fired on Saturday 3rd October. Given the weather the grapes are ripening fast, although the small selection that I tasted suggested that the pips are not yet fully ripe. It is now a question of hoping that the weather will hold. Météo France is forecasting that the recent high temperatures will fall a bit and that there will be rain on Wednesday.
