Android phones are some of the most feature rich smart-phones that you can buy these days and the best part is that the pricing for these phones have come down a lot. In this segment I am going to list some of  the budget android phones under Rs 10,000.

Budget Category  Android Phones under Rs 10,000

1) Samsung Galaxy POP S5570: This is one of the most feature rich phone that you can buy under 10k budget, this phone supports 3G speeds upto 7.2 Mbps, WiFi b/g/n, bluetooth the screen size is Capacitive 3.2 inches touch screen with a QVGA (320 x 240 px) resolution, Micro SD Card slot, the camera is 3.2 Megapixel and also has a standard 3.5mm head phone jack.

The processor is 600Mhz and the best part is that it runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) out of the box, the Galaxy POP has en-corporates a proximity sensor and compass, you can get it for around Rs 9,000 which according to me is a great deal.

2) Spice MI-310: This is a new Android model launched by Spice the earlier model was MI-300 this model also supports 3G speeds upto 7.2 Mbps has WiFi, Micro SD card, 2 Megapixel camera, GPS and bluetooth, it also has a Capacitive touch screen 3.1 inches  but the best part about Spice MI-310 is that that the screen resolution is HVGA (320 x 480) which is much better than QVGA resolution and IMHO is the minimum resolution that you should have with an Android phone.

The Spice MI-310 also comes pre-installed with Android 2.2 (Froyo) so you get Wi-Fi hotspot functionality out of the box it also supports a track-pad for easier navigation and is attractively price at just Rs 7,500.

3) DELL XCD-28: This is a budget Android phone by Dell this is 2.8 inch resistive touch screen phone which again has a QVGA (320 x 240) resolution, supports 3G upto 7.2 Mbps, also has a 3.2 Megapixel auto-focus camera, WiFi, GPS, Micro SD card slot and bluetooth connectivity and has the 3.5mm standard audio jack.

The phone is powered by a 600Mhz ARM 11 processor and this one runs the stock Android 2.1, I do not like that this phone is using the resistive touch screen, this one is priced around Rs 7,500.

4) Huawei Ideos: This Android phone runs Froyo 2.2 out of the box and has a 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen with a QVGA (240 x 320) resolution supports 3G upto 7.2 Mbps, WiFi b/g/n, bluetooth. GPS and runs on ARM 528Mhz processor the camera is  3.2 MP.

This phone is being sold by Tata DOCOMO and Aircel in India and it retails for around Rs 8,500, it is also known as Huawei U8150 this would have been a great phone if only it was around 7K.

5) MicroMax Andro A60: This is one of the first Android phone launched by Micromax and is one of the cheapest Android phone that you can possibly get, the design of the phone is a bit un-conventional wider at the top and tapering down this phone has a 2.8 inch resistive TFT touch screen with a QVGA (320 x 240) resolution, it supports 3G speeds upto 7.2 Mbps has WiFi b/g, bluetooth, Micro SD slot and 3.2 MP auto-focus camera, this Andro A60 does not have any headphone jack.

Mircomax Andro runs Android 2.1 and the company has stated that it will not get Froyo (Android 2.2) update, due to the unconventional design and resistive touch screen typing is a bit difficult on this phone, the processor in a 600 Mhz and it also has GPS support, Micromax Andro A60 retails for around Rs 6,800 my recommendation go for this one only if you are on a very tight budget.

My pick from the above listed phones would be the Samsung POP or the Spice Mi-310 coz of Andriod 2.2 (Froyo) and HVGA capacitive screen on Spice, I am not to sure about the build quality of Spice but before you decide  I would suggest get a hands on to get a feel of the phone.

These are some of the budget android phones that you can currently buy in March – April 2011, in my next update (in a couple of days) I will be writing about mid-range Android phones costing between Rs 10,000 – 20,00 to be updated don’t forget to join our facebook page.
